Enjoying the Mali-beauty

I don’t belong anywhere: I belong everywhere.

The phrase above happens to be my life motto for the sole purpose that I love to travel and experience new spaces and places. With that being said, Malibu—and more specifically, Pepperdine (my university) is one of the places I can easily call home; it is a place where I can say I belong.

I fell head-over-sandals upon my initial visit—you could say it was love at first sight. Whether it’s the ocean air, the laid-back yet busy vibe, or just that feeling in the pit of my stomach where I feel like every day something special can happen, I cannot help but feel an attachment to Malibu. What makes the place even more special, is the people I‘ve met there—whom I know will become my lifelong friends.

As you can imagine, even visiting this place for a day is like heavy rain quenching the thirst of grass after experiencing a California drought. Even though I didn’t have the opportunity to see the friends I met there (summer break is the epitome of the term bittersweet), it felt as if they were there with me in spirit.

During my visit I had the opportunity to roam the streets of my campus, go to the acai angel known as Sunlife, Malibu Farm on the Pier (one of my favorite restaurants), and Adamson House (where these photos were taken).

One does not go to Malibu without wearing in the ‘Bu beach basics. The Malibu uniform does not exclude a white crop top and blue patterned shorts with some cream embellishments. Since it became a little chilly, I paired the look with a cream crochet cardigan that picks up on the short’s embellishments. For footwear, I opted for my favorite/reliable brown sandals. To top it all off, I decided to switch out my daily studs for some dangly cream earrings that have diamond-looking detailing.

Sadly, my visit was short, but it did not make it any less sweet. Besides, I’ll be back sooner or later Malibu!

Keeping it Krischic,

Kristin Vartan
