When I am by the Ocean, time seems to stop. Coastal towns are the best places to visit to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. When deciding to study abroad in London from Fall 2015 to Spring 2016, I welcomed the idea of trading a beach setting for a metropolitan one; I’ve always been a city girl at heart. However, I caught the beach bug during my first year at Pepperdine University. Being away from that environment has resulted in saltwater withdrawals. What better way to cure the nostalgia than to visit a coastal town close to home?
I grew up going to Sausalito, CA, making it an even more special place. It is a beach town right next to San Francisco, my favorite city in the entire world (London comes in a close second)! Yesterday, my parents and I spent a relaxing day there perusing through boutiques, taking in the crisp air, and eating an assortment of delicious seafood with sourdough bread (some of my British friends have laughed at the idea that I eat “sour” bread, but I honestly cannot get enough of it while home. Pass the butter, please!). One of my favorite things about Sausalito is that it looks like NorCal’s version of Cinque Terre; Rather than vibrant houses ornamenting oceanside hills, Sausalito has pastel ones which perfectly align with my desired color palette. The scenery, food, and company of my wonderful parents made for a delightful day trip!
My outfit for the day consisted of classic pieces. I am a sucker for a sporty chic look, especially since I’ve cut my hair (I’ll have a blog post about this later). As a foundation for my outfit, I am wearing my favorite dark wash jeans with a long white sweater. The real key to this look is my traditional, camel colored trench coat paired with some Burberry trainers (as the Brits would say) and Burberry cross body purse. The two items are in Burberry’s signature colors that marry well with my coat. As a final chic touch, I am wearing some pearl earrings.
I feel incredibly refreshed after my trip to Sausalito and am glad that my new 50mm lens could capture it in the same dreamy way that I experienced it. Stay tuned for some more photos from my Christmas break in future blog posts!
