This weekend, my fabulous friend (and one of my roommates) Rebekah and I travelled just two short stops on the tube to Notting Hill (yes, the same one in the movie with the ever so endearing Hugh Grant and the too perfect for words Julia Roberts). As I had not seen the movie before, we watched Notting Hill in anticipation for our day trip there. I am a sucker for a good nineties Rom-Com any day. Plus, there was no better way to prepare for our day-scursion.
Our trip could be summed up as one for the Pinterest Boards. We wandered through the ever so lively Portobello Road market filled with vintage treasures (I scored an original Sound of Music vinyl!) while making our way to Lowry and Baker, an adorable café with some mouth-watering Eggs Benedict (and a good cup o’ Joe, I must add). It was fun sharing some conversation and coffee on our orange wooden table while looking out the window. Afterwards, we spend some more time window/actual shopping and finished with a photo shoot by Notting Hill’s notoriously colorful houses.
A sassy outfit was not excluded from the weekend festivities. As it was a warmer day in London town, I was able to leave my overcoat in the closet and show off my light wash overalls. These babies look great with a contrasting black and white long sleeve and Chuck Taylors. I am not normally one to bring out the sneakers, but the nineties nature of Notting Hill the movie unleashed a high tops high. In the spirit of the colorful homes along Portobello Road, I wore my magenta floppy hat and matching lipstick.
Needless to say, it was a fun day in London with great company. Exploration of one’s own city is just as enchanting as traveling to distant lands. Yes, I did just call London my own city. I’m pretty sure four months of living here justifies my declaration as a local. Until next time!
Keeping it Krischic,
