Keeping it Krisbeach: Laguna Beach

As the sea sculpts the shore with it’s demanding waves, so has God and man cultivated the land of Laguna Beach, California into an artist’s paradise.

Painters, writers and fashion enthusiast alike cannot help but feel inspiration all around them in this picturesque beach town, filled with art fairs (Like Sawdust), museums and storybook beaches. I would almost consider it to be the Florence of California, a true renaissance beach town.

While navigating this treasure town with my good friend and Laguna local, Lauren, we visited many beaches, including the illustrious Victoria Beach and Crystal Cove. I fell in love with both places, but specifically Victoria because of its Fairytale-evoking tower and waters so crystal clear that you could see your reflection in it. I got to know that water pretty well when it tried to kidnap my shoes and I refused to let it do so! From my hips down, I was completely submerged in water! But have no fear, chicsters because it did not stop me from putting together this beach lookbook for you.

While walking to the beach, I told my friend Lauren that my shirt was something a glorified, fashionable candy striper (hospital volunteers) would wear! With its pleated sleeves, deep v-back and fabric rope belt to accentuate one’s figure, it definitely is a staple for any fashion girl–or fashionable candy striper for that matter. The blouse is also lightweight, so when paired with white shorts, it’s perfect for a full day at the beach. To keep the ensemble true to my affinity for vintage, I wore some green, orange and gold statement earrings with Egyptian motifs. I’m sure Cleopatra would have been proud. And of course, I’m wearing my London skyline necklace, Kate Spade purse and some comfortable slides (which I almost lost!). 

It has been quite a privilege to explore Southern California in more depth this summer with friends and making precious memories in each garment I’ve worn. Stay tuned for more lookbooks like this!
