In the midst of a Malibu heatwave, my mind drifts back to the vineyard landscape of Napa at the height of summer.
The heat was dry rather than humid, and the sun cascaded over the grape leaves rather than the ocean. While a seaside scene is hard to beat, there is a hidden beauty to the way the sun stenciled shapes on the dirt floor through the grape leaves while I drank nectar-like wine at Darioush Winery, or the view of rolling hills whilst enjoying the bubbly tickle of Domaine Carneros’ sparkling wines.
The Chateau reminiscent winery was a fitting backdrop for a french country outfit. The aesthetic of a french country girl is versatile for any personality or budget, because it is as simple as throwing on a dress and floppy hat. After a medley of hat-dress combinations, I’ve found that there is an art form to tailoring the look to your style. Picking my floral, lavender midi dress lined with lace was almost second nature. I thrifted this number in Santa Monica a couple years back. It was love at first sight, appealing to my obsession of tea dresses and Victorian fashion. To give it a more French look, I paired it with a straw floppy hat and put my hair in a low bun–Side note: my grandmother says I look like a countess whenever I do this!
From head to toe–literally–I chose to go floral with bouquet embroidered, denim flats. They combine three trends in one: denim domination, the pointed Mary Jane and the embroidered trend. Goodbye minimalism, hello embroidery! Speaking of embellishments, the pièce de résistance? These calligraphic gold hoops! Gold hoops, like summer dresses are classics, but these babies are a fun little twist.

Thank you so much! It’s all about shopping around rather than sticking to one brand! Vintage shopping is my absolute favorite thing 🙂
