There’s something about wearing red. Red is sultry. Red is vibrant. Red is a personality, not a color. Red is the embodiment of confidence, elegance, and daringness.
These were all things I thought about and felt as I walked as demurely as one can in heels across a boardwalk of uneven wood with holes between, and felt the gentle sea breeze kiss my hair, touch my red lips and bring goosebumps to my bare shoulders on the early evening of my sorority’s fall formal.
When I first saw this dress online, I knew it was the one for me–When I put it on, it felt like the dress was forged to my fit and personality type. My formal dress felt appropriate for an old soul who decided to get with the times a bit for a night. I was a mix of Audrey and Marilyn in one go. Off-the-shoulder knotted sleeves of eyelet lace matched a knee length skirt that cascaded into a scalloped finish. A Layered pleated high waist torso featured a keyhole cutout, and the dress was form-fitting all over.
To accessorize, I wore my signature London skyline necklace and what I call my gold “Saturn earrings,” because they look like two planets with rings around them. Gold jewelry is my go-to because it truly brightens up the face and has a nice vintage feel. Gold also complements the color red nicely. To accentuate the girly nature of this dress, I opted for soft but coiled curls parted down the middle with a red lip.
What is your power color?
Keeping it Krischic,
Kristin Vartan
