This season, rosy hues are all the rage. Whether you’re into sultry reds of the runway or sweet and girly pinks, feel free to explore your feminine side.

In the spirit of feminism, especially in an age where women have been claiming back their agency in the workplace, I think it’s important to have open conversation about how fashion philosophy plays a role. I’ve never been one to think that being a feminist means denying your inner girly girl–in terms of color choices or the the style of what you wear. In fact, if Elle Woods taught us anything about being a strong woman, you can be an intelligent leader and still wear pink like a badge of honor. What was it Audrey Hepburn said about believing in pink but also believing in being strong–and she was both a UNICEF ambassador and an accomplished actress.

Women can be women and still be respected. Women can be women and not be “asking for it.” Women can be women.

A wardrobe word to the wise: dress like you. Pink is one of my favorite colors, next to black, red and gold. There have been a couple trends I’ve been head over heels lately besides the pink one–and I’m excited to put them all in one outfit, and in one post: the monochromatic trend, the beret, “winter florals” and “mad for plaid.”

I paired a bubblegum pink beret with a matching pink cashmere sweater. I added a little edge with a navy and light red plaid mini skirt. While there is no pink in the mini number, the red does pick up on the Rosy hue on top. I brought the whole look together with two conversational pieces: my pearl Gucci loafer heels and floral-embroidered fur jacket. They both pick up on colors of the skirt and sweaters, making for a nice array of trendy pieces.

Too much? You know me, I’m hands down a maximalist. As long as a sartorialist puts them together in a complimentary way, like differing instruments in an orchestra that alone sound beautiful but take your breath away together, let me tell you–maximalism is not off limits.
