I have ‘reel’ obsession with Old Hollywood–the films, the music, the outfits…the whole lot. My guilty pleasures are watching Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe movies on a night in, sipping a glass of red wine while looking outside my balcony at the Los Angeles skyline, dreaming of the allure of that bygone time period.
One of the benefits of having Hollywood in my backyard is up close and personal access I am allotted to the iconic costumes and props seen in television, movies, or even concert tours of legendary singers –and sometimes it’s as simple as spending the day in West Hollywood or Beverly Hills and just… wandering in for a peak!
My friend, Amar and I poppped inside Julien’s Auctions’ bright and airy Beverly Hills space. We found ourselves staring at Cher’s crystal crusted leotard, Sharon Tate’s swanky mini dresses, and Marilyn Monroe’s illustrious film costumes like her long sleeved, fringe-dripping cream dress from a scene in “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”
It’s crazy to think that these garments curated in the style of a museum will be auctioned off to private collectors within the next couple of days! But I cherish the moments I stepped through the exhibition in my polka dot open towed heels, matched with a form-fitting, cropped leather jacket and flowy white summer dress (fall in California, am I right)?
As a fashion/entertainment journalist and fashion blogger, my goal is to keep the stories of these soon-to-be claimed items in the spotlight through blog posts that live on, articles and video stories. I also have a fun video package of the revived buzz around Marilyn Monroe the past few months to share, which I will keep you posted on once it airs. For now, enjoy these fun photos I took at the Julien’s auctions preview.
Keeping it Krischic,
