Another 365 days have passed–each one of them filled with a myriad of memories, adventures and you guessed it, chic outfits.

2019 is days away which means it’s that time of the year where I reflect on the exciting experiences I was blessed with this past year:New Year's Eve lookbook, fashion blogger, style blogger, lookbook, outfit of the night, green velvet, over-the-knee boots, belted top, New Year's Eve, NYENew Year's Eve Lookbook 4

-I spent the final semester of my undergraduate college career as the co-host of NewsWaves32 morning show, Good Morning Malibu! Since I was a freshman, during my days as fashion news anchor on GMM (my first on-camera journalist role EVER) I dreamed of being the host of GMM one day. And it happened. And it was beyond phenomenal.

-I was asked facilitate a Q&A with legendary Costume Designer from Mad Men and the Romanoffs; Janie Bryant! It was a delight to speak to Janie about her wardrobe decisions that truly bring the shows she’s worked on to life, and continue chatting with her about her career at dinner afterward!

-My mom and I had our first mother-daughter only mini-vacation to Santa Barbara and Solvang. It’s still one of my most favorite trips of all time. We almost got caught in a storm, you know the one that caused all those landslides… but details, details.

-I got accepted into three grad school programs that all tugged at my heart for different reasons: USC Annenberg, New York University (NYU) and City, University of London–all with exceptional journalism programs. While saying no to moving back to London was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do in my entire life (and of course, saying no to living in New York City for the first time and living at my The Bold Type dreams) it was worth it to go to USC, the #1 school for journalism in the world! I am halfway through my graduate program and have to say, staying in LA to go to USC was the right decision because it has given me some of the coolest professors, new friends and adventures. London can wait for such priceless blessings (I know I say blessings a lot in this post, but there isn’t a better word for the lovely things in life given to me by God), and trust me, I plan on moving back there at some point!

-I graduated from Pepperdine University with Magna Cum Laude honors, my BA in Journalism, lifelong friends and amazing memories! Pepperdine will always be my alma mater, my collegiate first love if you will. The good news is since Pepp doesn’t have a football team, I’m not betraying them by rooting for my grad school, USC during college football season!

-I returned to London over the summer, my favorite city in the world after three years of being away since studying abroad. I still knew the layout of the South Kensington neighborhood like the back of my hand. Here in America I’ll just continue clutching my London skyline necklace to my chest, awaiting for another return to my soul-city of London town.

-I bought my first apartment in the city with a killer view of Downtown LA’s skyline, ahhhh! I have been meaning to do a blog post that takes you inside the interior design of my bachelorette pad, and I promise to do one at the beginning of this coming year.

-I expanded my broadcast portfolio: covering anything from The Burbank International Film Festival (where I will always look back fondly at Tarzan doing the Tarzan call with me on camera) to the Emmy-nominated costume design exhibition at FIDM, to this amazing Marilyn Monroe exhibit at the Paley Center for Media, to Metropolitan Fashion Week and Pre-LA Fashion Week with Who What Wear events! Oh, and I cannot mention my first brushes with political reporting. I am still floored that I got to interview Congresswoman Katie Hill and cover Politicon for Annenberg Media, focusing on how Hollywood has been more involved in the politics as of late!Processed with VSCO with q8 presetProcessed with VSCO with q8 preset

-I attended my first Emmys and walked the red carpet! Attending the Emmys and the After Party–brushing shoulders with the likes of James Corden and Milo Ventimiglia are definitely up there for me. I also had cool opportunities to attend the Revolve Kaia x Karl Lagerfeld collab launch, the GQ Men of the Year Party the LadyGang TV launch party and more!

-My family bought the cutest puppy in the whole world!

-A few other special somethings that you’ll just have to wait until 2019 to hear about! I am itching to get into 2019 because of the above foreshadow and many more surprises in store. One clue: this blog and my life is going to include a lot more video. But needn’t you worry: Keeping it Krischic will be continue to flourish with chic, vintage-inspired looks, travel and lifestyle!

What was your biggest 2018 blessing?

Keeping it Krischic,

Kristin Vartan
