Is it to presumptuous to say these pre-Oscar snaps deserve to win “Best Picture?” Or for this dress to win “Best Costume Design?” You be the judge of Acada-me.
I’d apologize for the triple pun I just served you, but I think you know me well enough to realize it’d be unauthentic to do so! The wordsmithing is a product of my hyper-excitement from covering the Oscars red carpet alongside George Pennacchio for ABC7. Did I imagine I’d have this much exposure to the 92nd Academy Awards in only my first week on the ABC7 Eyewitness News entertainment team? Hindsight is 2020.
You can stay tuned for my Oscars package in the near future, but in the meantime, I want to share with you some glam photos I took while the seal was still on the carpet (I was working in the studio for the big night, so I had to get in my glam shots while I could).
Eons ago, I took to Instagram to ask all of you what color you wanted to see me in next on a red carpet. One of my dearest friends, Audrey voted green. When beholding this emerald satin dress from Reformation online (this is not sponsored, but I honestly wish it was), I knew it would be just the one. A sweetheart décolletage is all the rage right now and is a win to wear for The Oscars since Old Hollywood starlets of the ‘50s like Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe dawned the neckline often. You know how I love a retro callback as much as an adapted screenplay (Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, anyone?).
This long sleeve number is updated with a sexy slit and a sustainable origin story. I decided to stay in the jewel tone family while adding a pop of color with fuchsia pumps and matching lipstick. I didn’t try to match my shoes to the carpet, but hey it happened!
What was your favorite red carpet look at The Oscars? Let me know in the comments below!
Keeping it Krischic,
Kristin Vartan
