One of the reasons I have fallen in love with fashion the way I have music: both are a language of their own.
You don’t need to be fluent in a specific tongue to appreciate the story that can be told through style or song.

But beyond that, I love how musicians have their own way of adding to a performance through what they wear. There have been countless discussions about whether Coachella dressing is relevant anymore, but I can concur with what Chioma Nnadi said on the “Run Through With Vogue” podcast: What a musician wears onstage during a performance will always be intriguing. The clothes dance, as a musician moves. There’s something celestial about it, whether the sleeves reflect wings in flight, or a well-tailored seventies suit anchors the artist in a compelling way.

Perhaps it’s my recent binge of Daisy Jones and the Six or the fact that plaid has resurfaced all over the spring/summer and autumn/winter 2023 runways, but I have found myself in a very committed relationship with this tartan and tan tuxedo by Tommy Hilfiger. It makes me feel like Mick Jagger a la seventies, while putting my own vinyl record spin on it. Here is how I styled the suit and how you can incorporate it into your own wardrobe:
Mix and Match Patterns in the Same Family:
Business wear doesn’t have to be boring: It can show your personality in style! Plaids of different sizes can complement one another if the pieces you mix are in matching tones. Case in point: this Burberry crossbody bag and these vintage heels.

Create a Three-Piece Suit with a Hero Item:
Your third piece doesn’t have to be the same as the blazer and trousers! I opted for a denim bustier with Versace Medusas on the straps to give the look a high-fashion, edgy twist.

Have Fun With Your Accessories:
I love the coin detailing of these earrings because they give a bohemian refresh to a pretty polished look.

A strong suit has a lot to say and speaks with power! What will yours say, and what kind music artist or song is playing in your head while you wear it?
